Senior Checklist – Post-Secondary Planning
** ALWAYS and EVERYONE – Keep your grades up! Pass your classes so you CAN graduate in May!
Planning to go straight to work after high school?
_____ November – February – visit places you would like to work, take an interest inventory assessment to see what you
might like to do (see Mrs. Sullivan or Ms. Caroline)
_____ January – create a resume, ask for letters of recommendation
_____ March – May – start contacting possible employers and applying for jobs
Planning to go into the Military?
_____ Take the ASVAB in October
_____ anytime – see Mrs. Sullivan or Ms. Caroline for recruiter contact info
Planning to go on to school – either college or a vocational school?
_____ November – apply to school!
_____ September – January – ACT or SAT – make sure you have the best score possible, watch for registration deadlines
Wondering how you will pay for college or vocational school?
*** Always watch for deadlines!

_____ File your FAFSA!
January
_____ Find out from your parents which tribal organizations you belong to
_____ Create your resume
_____ Ask 3 people to write you a letter of recommendation. Provide them with your resume or a ‘cheat sheet’ about
you so they can write a strong letter
February
_____ Write the personal essay required for the local scholarship packet
_____ Determine which of the CACHE scholarships you qualify for and will apply for
_____ Start your CACHE application online
_____ Tweak your resume and personal essay to fit the CACHE requirements
_____ Gather materials required for the CACHE scholarships you are applying for
_____ Weekly – check Mrs. Sullivan’s website for scholarship opportunities
March
_____ Complete the financial statement in the local scholarship packet
_____ Have letters of recommendation in hand
_____ Finalize all aspects of your local scholarship application (get your transcript from Mrs. Perrigo, add your letter
of acceptance and letters of recommendation)
_____ Complete your CACHE application for NSHC. Their deadline has moved to APRIL 1! Other CACHE
organizations may do so as well – check with Mrs. Sullivan and Ms. Caroline for details.
_____ Weekly – check Mrs. Sullivan’s website for scholarship opportunities
April
_____ Prepare your cover pages for scholarships (color photo needed for this – the office can help
you with photocopying or printing)
_____ Assemble your local scholarship packets
_____ Complete and submit your CACHE scholarship applications
_____ Turn in local scholarship packets applications to Mrs. Sullivan by April 19, 2018
_____ Weekly – check Mrs. Sullivan’s website for scholarship opportunities
_____ REJOICE!

_____ Stay alert for last second scholarships
_____ Graduate! Celebrate safely!
_____ Begin the next phase of your life!
